IELTS Speaking Part 2 Samples: Describe your house

Question 1:

Describe your dream home.

You should say:

  • Where you are living now
  • Where you want to live
  • What kind of home is your dream home

And explain why you think it is your dream home.

Sample band 6.5

If I were to describe my ideal home, it would be a lovely beach house in a tranquil country area.

I like the concept of owning a two-story house because I believe it would be sufficient for a little family to live comfortably. It would have to be painted blue, my favorite color, and the ceiling would have to be exquisitely ornamented with star and moon ornaments.

Because I prefer natural light over artificial light, each room would have its own set of windows. The windows would also be decked with colored string lights and other flowers, creating a warm and inviting environment for my family. In case I needed some motivation, I’d place some images of inspiring words on the walls. Each bedroom would have a balcony with a beautiful view of the sea.

The ideal place would be beside the water since I enjoy sitting on the beach every day and watching the dawn and sunset. Another factor is that the weather in coastal places is often pleasant not too hot or cold. It is lovely virtually all year.

If I want to purchase a property like this, I guess I’d have to save a lot of money. Property prices have risen considerably in recent years, particularly in coastal places, but I believe it is well worth it.

Sample band 8.0

For the time being, I’m sharing an apartment with two other pals. It is located in the middle of the city, surrounded by hustle and activity. People from all across the city swarm the streets at night. It’s not very big, but it’s big enough for me to study. This, however, is not my ideal home.

To be honest, the location and surroundings of my dream house are really significant to me. Mountains and fresh, crisp air have always captivated me. I’d feel upbeat and energetic, staring out the windows at the spectacular range of mountains and the cooling environment. For the time being, I’m sharing an apartment with two other pals.

In this regard, I envision my dream home being positioned somewhere high, away from the city’s crowds and pollution.

To describe the design of my house, I want it to be as basic as feasible. I’m not into flashy or modern architecture; anything simple and efficient should suffice. A Cottage would have one bedroom, a living area, and a bathroom. The living room should be the largest because it is where I do all of my enjoyment, whether alone or with a companion. There will also be adorned trees and plants around the house.
